The Minneapolis Valley

Ancient Free & Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry

Dear Brother Master Mason,

When you were initiated into Freemasonry, you professed a desire to become "wiser, better and consequently happier". We endeavor to aid in that effort at our beautiful Scottish Rite Temple in Minneapolis. On behalf of the Minneapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, we would like to congratulate you on your journey. We encourage you to become an active member of your Blue Lodge. The first three degrees are the heart of Masonry and viable Blue Lodges are the future of our beloved fraternity.

At the core of Freemasonry is an obligation to become educated and enlightened of the principles of our fraternity. We believe that the lessons of the Scottish Rite enlighten and amplify the lessons of Craft Masonry. When you desire to further your Masonic education or seek more light in Masonry, we encourage you to consider the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. For over 200 years the Scottish Rite has educated Masons. The Minneapolis Valley is 130 years old. The Minneapolis Valley is one of the few Valleys in the United States that confers all 29 degrees, 4° thru 32°, staged in full form, complete with costumes and scenery.

The Minneapolis Valley confers all twenty-nine Scottish Rite Degrees in two classes per year in August thru December and January thru April. We convene each Thursday night (except Thanksgiving) with dinner (free to candidates) at 5:00 p.m. Most degrees begin at 6:30 p.m., with some evenings including a Red Room education opportunity from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m.  Our comprehensive calendar will reflect when the next class will commence. Please visit our calendar to plan your Masonic education.

If you are unable to commit to 13 weeks of attendance, we offer, at our Annual Spring Reunion, a one-day opportunity to become a member with all the rights and privileges of the Rite.

We earnestly encourage you to consider the Minneapolis Valley when you choose to gain further light in Masonry. The petition for degrees is available at the bottom of this page.

For further information please contact the Scottish Rite office by phone at 612-871-1500.

Life Membership Installment Plan

The Supreme Council offers a life membership opportunity for all Scottish Rite Masons.  Installment purchases of life memberships are available with automatic monthly charges being made, in a pre-determined amount, to a member's Visa/MasterCard credit card.  The member will choose his monthly payment amount and the plan will be billed in accordance with the Valley Life Membership rate table shown below.  Until paid in full, annual dues will be paid from the monthly payments.  Once the installment purchase plan is initiated, increases in dues or life member fees will not apply to the member.  Minneapolis Valley Life Memberships are available at fees relating to the member's age.

Proposition for Degrees

The Statutes of the Supreme Council have been revised to allow for a candidate to be proposed for membership by a member of the Valley.  If the candidate is elected, the Secretary will send him a letter of invitation to file a regular Petition for Degrees without further ballot.  A Petition for Degrees may be submitted without the knowledge of the person proposed.

If you know a Master Mason who is worthy and well qualified, you may submit his name to the Secretary, who will see that he is balloted on and subsequently notified if he is elected.  This could be an easy way to ask that Mason who would be a welcome and valuable addition to the Scottish Rite.
